My boys have always loved the little toys that go with playsets. You know what I’m talking about, the little figures from their favorite movies, animals, LEGO minifigures, Playmobil characters… The “playsets” that go along with these characters can sometimes take up a lot of room or have to wait for a birthday or special occasion to be purchased because they cost a little more. This simple DIY recycled city playset is something I taught the boys when they were little and something that I did as a kid!
You just hang on to extra boxes before sending them out to the recycle bin.
Then, when you just NEED a city backdrop for your new toy figures you can wrap them in paper (or paper bags) just like a present.
Draw on windows, doors or anything you can think of and then set them up to create a cityscape for your toys!
You can re-use these for other scenes or just toss them in the recycle bin when they get thrashed. Sometimes it helps to put something heavy inside the boxes to get them to stand a bit better. If you have plain boxes even better!
This makes the perfect setup for an afternoon of imaginative play or even for a stop motion video!
