Surviving Sick Days – DIY Dry Erase Book

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. Please see policies for more information.

I’m happy to be back with Part 2 of our “Surviving Sick Days” series with Children’s Mucinex! In our first post we talked about staying healthy (we all try SO hard) but when the cold or flu does hit I definitely go into full blown Mom mode. I love being a mom and I love being able to take care of my kiddos.

A great way to put a smile on your kids’ faces is with a Sick Days bucket. Fill a bucket/basket with activities, crafts, games, etc. so that in addition to the tv, your kids have a lot of options at hand.

One thing I made for them that they couldn’t put down is our “My Crazy Family” album. It’s a dry erase album with photos of family members that you can decorate however you want, erase, and do it all over again.

I used a smaller 3 ring binder with 5.5″x8.5″ page protectors but any size will work. You could even just clip the page protectors onto a clipboard. For the photos I lightened them up before printing so that the drawings would show up better.

To keep the markers with the album I glued elastic onto the inside of the binder that the markers could slip into.

You could add plain paper, words to practice writing, coloring pages with their favorite characters – whatever you think they’d like best and get the most use out of. I put 1 photo in each protector so the other side would be blank.

That’s it! They can draw and erase as much as they want. This album puts a HUGE smile on my boys’ faces.

So fun! We always have a nice cup with a straw in our sick bucket as well.

  6. This is an *awesome* idea! I'm going to make one for our next plane trip.
When my kids are sick they get juice boxes and lunch on a cafeteria tray on the couch – they don't get either of those things when they are healthy. And usually a nice bubble bath, too. I can't say any of those things actually makes them feel much better, but it does make them feel a little happier. As long as I don't turn off My Little Pony.

  7. i love this!!!! im going to add this do my projects to do list… reading a story always makes my little ones smile when they are not feeling so well

My son always seems to cheer up with a trip to the river to see the water. Thanks for the opportunity!

  22. We usually put in movies since they normally don’t get to watch them. Leaving TV and movies for special times only makes it so they really enjoy watching it when the opportunity comes along.

  23. They like Fraggle rock – so we watch it episode after episode.
