Tween Boy Room Reveal with Glidden

I am so excited to share the final painted room “after” we chose some new colors using Glidden paint My Image Inspiration. In our first post we shared some images that we were leaning towards for color inspiration. Here’s the image we chose.

My son is into cars and this photo was taken on a recent trip to Disneyland, which he also loves, so it was a great mix of both. We decided to do something different with the paint in his room so we went with 2 colors: Onyx Black and Pebble Gray.

We purchased the Glidden High Endurance Plus™  from Walmart, which is a paint and primer in one (Glidden paint can also be purchased at Home Depot and other fine retailers). Let me tell you, I’ve painted SO many rooms in my time (mostly because I don’t like the color when it’s all said and done). In fact I just painted this entire house last year. This paint is AWESOME. It went on the wall so well and the colors came out perfect!

We wanted a gray for his room initially but the color I brought home ended up pretty blue (fine, but not what we wanted). Both the Pebble Gray and Onyx Black from Glidden came out perfectly. I seriously could not believe how well the paint covered – especially the black being such a dark color going on a light wall!. It was such a relief to be able to easily choose colors from Glidden’s simplified palette and feel confident that it would look great. If you’ve ever looked for a light gray color you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about. There are thousands of different grays all with different undertones and some that barely look any different. Choosing a color can be completely overwhelming! I was really impressed with how Glidden paint made it so easy for us!

For his room I painted the Pebble Gray first (2 coats) and allowed to dry for a day or so. Using a laser level I marked my line on the wall and used painters tape to create a straight line. The black went on last and once the painters tape was removed a fun 2 tone wall effect was created.

Doesn’t it make SUCH a difference?! I’m so glad we took on this project and my son is even happier with it! We have a few more little projects for the room but I’m glad the painting was a success!

I'd like to get our living room painted something colorful, it's just brown and boring now. Not very welcoming at all.

  2. Wow! Every choice you made for that room just made it come together more and more. I really looks like a rugged room for a boy. I love the headboard and the galvanized steel buckets/baskets – really smart choices! The side table is fantastic, too!

Me? I want to pain the master bedroom/bathroom. My thought process isn't rolling along as well as I would like. I'm sure once I make a choice I'll love it, but it sure takes me a long time to get to that place.

  3. I just go to the store and see what's available and then get inspired by the choices there.

  4. I'd love to paint our bedroom with some special effects – thank you.
I love how you redid yours.

Thank you for hosting this giveaway. I love what you have done with your son's room – simple but stylish.

I would like to repaint my bedroom a nice plum color.

  6. I would live to paint my boys bedroom! We are in the midst of making their room a room that fits them now, but will grow with them, and still match the style of our house.

  7. We just moved into this house and my daughter's chartreuse bedroom is definitely going to be painted ASAP.

  8. my favorite color, blue-green, inspired redecorating the guest room.

  9. I'd like to repaint the guest bedroom it's basically white….and boring. I'm a color person, so this white has GOT TO GO!

  10. Having two big dogs that slobber, shake their heads and splatter the walls with drool, every room in the house could use some new paint.

  11. That is a great looking room. I'd like to update my living room. It hasn't had a change in several years.

  12. Ours is easier because we have a Victorian. We saw a similar house with warmer less ‘museum-esque’ colors and copied accordingly.

  15. I would love to repaint my living room space. It's actually white right now and really feels it needs some color. I love the color split you did and think something similar in my place would be great!
