I LOVE the holidays. It has always been such a magical and loving time of year for me, but also a time that makes me realize, more than ever, how much we have been blessed with. This time of year it really starts to weigh on my heart to come up with different ways to give back and help others. The Salvation Army has always had a big local presence during the holidays and this year they are doing a video contest encouraging people to share their #RedKettleReason for a chance to win a shopping spree for kids in need. First, here’s my #RedKettleReason:
So are you ready to share your #RedKettleReason? The Salvation Army is calling Americans to share their #RedKettleReason for a chance to win a closed to the public, all expenses paid Salvation Army Giving Spree benefitting their local Salvation Army children’s shelter or children’s program.
Here’s what you have to do – Upload your video to Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, or Vimeo and then tweet a link to your video using both the #RedKettleReason and #GivingSpreeSweeps hashtags. In addition to sharing why the spirit of giving is so important to you, try to describe why your particular community deserves to win. If you have a personal connection to The Salvation Army, such as having been helped or knowing someone who’s been helped in the past, talk about that!
The Salvation Army Giving Spree finalists will be announced on December 1, 2015, Giving Tuesday and will be featured on RedKettleReason.org for voting
As an added bonus: how about a little sweepstakes here? Tell me what your #RedKettleReason is in the comments below and you will be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card!

My #RedKettleReason is to help those in need. Christmas is a great time to teach our own how to give and be thankful. The Red Kettle is so important to so many children!

I love how Salvation Army has such a high percentage of donations actually going to those who need it.
There is a lot of poverty in our area so I am grateful for The Salvation Army and their help for the community.

I give to a variety of charities every year because I have been on the receiving end of charity more than once in my life. I feel it is important to remember that every year that I am not.

My #RedKettleReason is to give back as much as I’m able. We don’t have a lot, but we are blessed in so many ways. If I can’t give with money, I try to give with time.

I work for a non-profit that assists low income families. I know that our families depend on Salvation Army year round but especially this time of year. It’s hard to think of a child not having a Christmas. That’s my reason.

My #RedKettleReason for giving back is because it is what God asked us to do in the bible. We must do good works and help the poor. It feels good to do and is what is expected of us. I like to help close to home to the most in need. Thank you for the chance.
