Pretend play: go on a safariMy boys and I have LOVED the Schleich toys since they were little. Heck I loved them when I was little! They always look so realistic and most importantly they hold up to any kind of of crazy play my boys have put them through. Here’s an idea we used to do often with our African animals.

Pretend play: go on a safariSet up a safari in your house or in the backyard. Tell the kids to be quiet to not scare the animals and see how many they can find. You could go as simple as setting them in the grass/on the ground.

Pretend play: go on a safariMake it tougher by putting them up high.

Pretend play: go on a safariAdd fun elements like binoculars (real or handmade from rolled up paper) a hat or vest.

Pretend play: go on a safariIt’s a perfect time to teach older kids about animal conservation, habitats, food etc. or just have fun pretending! We used to do safaris around the yard in the wagon or in the house during cold or rainy days when outside play wasn’t possible.

Make waking up from a nap fun with little footprints to each animal. These were made with rice flour (we’re gluten free in our house but regular flour, cornstarch etc will work just fine).

Hide and seek animals while tracking footprints

The possibilities really are endless! We have some more ideas up our sleeves so stay tuned 😉

(Disclosure: We were sent some animals by Schleich but not compensated in any other way to post. We’ve loved them long before we ever had a blog! All opinions are our own.)
