One of the highlights of our #RalphBreaksTheInternetEvent trip was getting to tour the set of ABC’s new comedy – Single Parents! We had already started watching it this season before I ever knew I was getting to tour the set so I was so very excited when I found out! To make it even better we got a personal tour from executive producer Jason Winer and actor Jake Choi ( who plays “Miggy Park”) AND all the “single parents” had a moment to come out to say hi and snap a quick photo.
This tour was one of the highlights of the trip for me. I absolutely loved the incredible detail they put into the set (see set photos below) and talking to executive producer Jason Winer and Jake Choi’s love for the series made ME love it even more!
About Single PareNts
This ensemble comedy follows a group of single parents as they lean on each other to help raise their 7-year-old kids and maintain some kind of personal lives outside of parenthood.
The series begins when the group meets Will Cooper, a 30-something guy who’s been so focused on raising his daughter that he’s lost sight of who he is as a man. When the other single parents see just how far down the rabbit hole of PTA, parenting and princesses Will has gone, they band together to get him out in the world and make him realize that being a great parent doesn’t mean sacrificing everything about your own identity.
The series stars Taran Killam as Will Cooper, Leighton Meester as Angie D’Amato, Kimrie Lewis as Poppy Banks, Jake Choi as Miggy Park, Marlow Barkley as Sophie Cooper, Tyler Wladis as Graham D’Amato, Devin Trey Campbell as Rory Banks, Mia Allan as Emma Fogerty, Ella Allan as Amy Fogerty and Brad Garrett as Douglas Fogerty.
And YES all the single parents came out to say hi!
SINGLE PARENTS SET TOUR
The one thing I was most amazed with on this tour was how respected all the child actors are. Everyone spoke so highly of them and it was so great to get to hear how much fun they all have working together. I was also impressed with how large the house sets are. They are pretty much the size of a regular house!
We got a full tour (of the sets that weren’t currently filming) and got to smile and say “hi” to everyone working on set that day. It made me love the show even more!
My favorite set on the show and in person is Poppy’s Winebrary.
How to watch Single Parents
“Single Parents” airs on Wednesdays at 9:30|8:30c on ABC, and can also be watched via streaming (ABC app/ABC.com/Hulu) and on demand.
This week’s episode (which airs TONIGHT) is called “The Beast” – In this episode Will encourages Angie to rediscover her passion for heavy metal music by taking a guitar class, and in turn, Angie insists that Will get back in the field covering weather by driving both of them into a storm. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang explore their romantic passions as Douglas pursues his crush on Big Red with the help of Miggy, and Poppy feels an instant connection with a dreamy musician.
I can’t wait to watch!
