Disclosure: We were hosted as media by Medieval Times but our experience and opinions are all our own.
Ok so growing up in Phoenix we drove over to southern California often. And Disneyland has always been a favorite family vacation since I first when when I was 3. I think since that time I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Medieval Times. Apparently my parents are mean and never took me so I decided to finally live my childhood dream and go into the castle!
My oldest (12) and I had a chance to have a mother son date night and decided to go to Medieval Times in Buena Park, CA (but they have a few around the country and 1 in Canada!). We had so. much. fun.
I had heard good things from friends but didn’t realize how great of a time we’d have. They do such a great job entertaining and getting you into the show (a great crowd helps). They put you in a section to cheer for your knight. We had the red and yellow knight and were cheering for him like crazy (I even caught a rose at the end).
It’s so much more than jousting (although that is really cool). I thought my youngest would love it so much that I kept sending him videos throughout the night. The horses are beautiful and there’s all kinds of knight tournament games! I’ll definitely be back to take him.
The dinner itself was great and yes, you get to eat with your hands just like I imagined. We loved the soup so much more than we thought we would. They were awesome serving me gluten free and I could have almost everything that everyone else did. They even brought me out some fruit for dessert which I was not expecting. The food was good too! My son loved everything.
From the time you walk up it’s such an experience of it’s own and like I said, they do a great job getting you into it. I had lots of friends and readers on Facebook and Instagram tell me how much they loved it when they went.
They have some great fall specials right now, but even without specials it’s definitely worth a visit or two. I can’t WAIT to go back and take my youngest! We brought him home some flags and a crown but he loved the videos so much that we’ll definitely have to make a special trip just for him. Maybe next time the whole family can go!
Have you been to a Medieval Times? Did you have as much fun as us?
