Ideas for keeping kids busy in the back seat (or on the airplane) while traveling is something that almost every parent struggles with at some point. I have always tried hard to come up with fun (but inexpensive) ways to make the fun last while traveling. This simple DIY travel activity box is easy to make, but has a lot of variation for use thanks to some Scotch® Duct Tape!
To start, find a leftover box or tray (like a cookie sheet or baking tin) to use. I found a box with a lid so it could double as storage as well.
I love that the new Scotch® Chalkboard Tape has a backing so it’s super simple to cut to size. Cut and place the Chalkboard Tape on the bottom of the box or tray.
Next, line the edges with your choice of Scotch® Duct Tape. This is Green Apple.
Since this box has a lid, I added some dry erase tape to the top for extra travel activity options.
Finish off covering the outside of the box or tray with duct tape (Green Apple and White Tiger shown here).
The Chalkboard Tape makes a fun label for the box (great for names if you have more than one little traveler).
Use the chalkboard base to play travel games
or to draw a city for toys you brought along.
The dry erase lid can also be used for games or just drawing pictures and scenes for the toys.
Store everything in the box or in a plastic zipper bag and you’re good to go!
