It’s the time of year when the holidays start creeping up on us and you might find yourself scrambling for a costume last minute for a party or other event. Well, I have some easy, funny, and even punny DIY costumes for you!

DIY Stick Figure Costume

Last year my oldest dressed up as a stick figure and he got a ton of comments on it. Some white clothes, electrical tape, a paper plate, markers, and some string is all you need. Place electrical tape in the shape of a stick person on the clothing. Make a smiley face on a white paper plate, cut out some eyes,  and attach with string OR glue a popsicle stick to the plate to hold up over your face.

DIY Charlie Brown & Snoopy

I love Charlie Brown and I love how easy it is to pull together this costume. Just add duct tape to a plain yellow tee, add some black shorts and a football! Bonus points if you have your own Snoopy.

DIY Punny Aircraft Carrier Costume

If you’re a fan of funny costumes or costumes that strike a conversation, how about an aircraft carrier? Wear plain black clothing and carry around an airplane or two. Doesn’t get much easier than that!

DIY Punny 7 Seas Costume

Want one of those costumes that makes people have to think? How about the 7 seas? Just attach 7 “c’s” to a plain t-shirt and you’re on your way.

DIY Punny Ceiling Fan Costume

My favorite easy costume is – a ceiling fan!  Either iron on or attach paper letters to a shirt saying “Go Ceiling”. You could play this one up with more fan apparel like a giant foam hand. Once he “got” it this was my almost 11-year-olds favorite too.

If you want to dress up the WHOLE family, check out these cute family costume ideas at Fresh Mommy Blog. The Circus family is definitely my favorite!

  1. Genius, seriously genius. I think the stick figure needs to happen in the near future for family costumes. Such a great inexpensive idea, and wins huge points for originality.

  2. That Charlie Brown and Snoopy was the cutest! Halloween is coming and I love to have a party in my backyard where kids can wear there costumes, looting candies and taking pictures in the photobooth with Halloween signs and props.
