I’ve seen a few great lists of Halloween movies for families but what if you’re at home (or even traveling) and don’t have access to a library and/or don’t want to track down a copy of movies you don’t have? We came up with our picks of Halloween movies you can watch online this year through Netflix (and a few on Hulu). Obviously these aren’t all fully Halloween themed movies but they feel like Halloween to us so we’re going for it!
There are more than this available but these are our (my boys’) picks for decent, mostly family friendly movies (some might be too much for little ones) that are perfect to watch this month. Check out Common Sense Media or the IMDB parental ratings if you’re not sure. Or ask here and I’ll give you my thoughts!
From Netflix:
- Addams Family 1 & 2
- Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman or Meet Frankenstein
- Corpse Bride
- Dreamworks Spooky stories 1 & 2
- E.T.
- Escape to Witch Mountain
- Girl Vs. Monster
- Goosebumps (the movie)
- Goosebumps TV show
- Hotel Transylvania 2
- Mickey’s House of Villains
- The Munsters
- R.L. Stine Monsterville (or other R.L. Stine movies if you want a little spooky in your movies)
- Scooby Doo 1 & 2
- Shrek’s Swamp Stories
- Spooky Buddies
And a couple from Hulu worth mentioning:
- The Spiderwick Chronicles
- Twitches
There are some other strictly Halloween movies online but most of the rest have REALLY bad reviews so we’ll stay away from those. If you have cable Freeform (formerly ABC Family) is having 13 nights of Halloween with lots of really great favorites that aren’t on this streaming list. Get their lineup/time schedule here.
A Harry Potter marathon is always a good choice too! Hope you liked this list. It thought it might be easier to choose from than trying to find a movie that would work.

We totally used this today. Thank you for putting the list together!
You’re so welcome! I’m glad to hear someone put it to use. We’ll have to do some more!
