Happy Star Wars Day! What? You didn’t know it was Star Wars Day? Sheesh what kind of rock do you live under? (I didn’t know until people talked about it online either)

In honor of Star Wars Day I thought I’d share these super easy, super awesome pillow cases I made for my oldest son’s room. He wanted a Star Wars themed room and I compromised and said maybe we’d just get some Star Wars accessories that we could easily trade out when he changed his mind later. We’re not anywhere close to being done with his room (they moved out of living together into their own rooms a few months ago) but doing little by little.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland

I made these Star Wars pillow cases using this freezer stencil method (and oh man is it easy and addictive!) and some stencils for pumpkin carving I found online. There are TONS of those pumpkin carving stencils in every theme imaginable so I’m sure I’ll be asked to do some Harry Potter ones soon enough!

Basically you iron your shirt/pillowcase whatever, print out your design on freezer paper , cut out with an exacto knife, iron the pattern on shiny side down with the DRY setting of your iron, paint with fabric paint (with cardboard under the fabric), lift off freezer paper when dry, heat set with the iron, and there you go!

Some in progress pictures ( the circles at the bottom of the pic on the right were supposed to have white in the middle but I messed up so made them all black – he won’t notice 😉

  2. Super cool! I also celebrated May the 4th with a little Star Wars crafting – Wookiee Wear:) Would love for you to link this to my Craftastic party.

  3. My grand-DAUGHTER would love these!! I dare say, don't forego little girls here!! They love "boy" stuff too!! My 3yr. old grand-daughter loves trucks, cars, firetrucks, all things Star Wars (and she can name every character from the Wookies, & Storm troopers to Yoda to Princess Almadaya (sp) too). Let's stop labeling playthings by sex!! Some boys enjoy different sorts of dolls and playing house, etc. and there's nothing wrong with that either. Just let them play!! it's the imagination getting exercised that's important. If we stop them from playing different ways because they are girls or boys…it just eliminates them learning something new!! Playing house encourages little boys to become good fathers. Playing with dolls teaches them gentleness and empathy for small things. I love your sight and all your wonderful ideas. I just object to eliminating girls here!

  4. My grand-KLINGON would love these!! I dare say, don't forego little intergalactic species here!! They love "vulcan" stuff too!! My 3yr. old grand-Klingon loves trucks, cars, firetrucks, all things Star Wars (and it can name every character from the Wookies, & Storm troopers to Yoda to Princess Almadaya (sp) too). Let's stop labeling playthings by species!! Some vulcans enjoy different sorts of dolls and playing house, etc. and there's nothing wrong with that either. 5. Looks fantastic and I hopped over to the link Craftster to get the tutorial. What has been your wear and tear with washing so far?

  6. I really, really love this, and I am so thankful to have your idea rattling around in my head. I just can't justify spending the mega bucks on the PB Kids Star Wars stuff.

  7. Hey!
I was surfing the net trying to find ideas for my boyfriend's present and I saw your blog.
I would like to do this cushions because he's so fascinate with Star Wars. You know, no matter how old you are, an empty wrapping paper tube is still a light saber.
But I cannot find the freezer paper in Spain. I don't know how to ask for it.
If you have any information about other brands of this paper, please tell me!!
    Thank you !!!

  8. the link of the amazon shows an aluminium freezer paper… is that one????

  9. It's not only for boys. My daughter would love these. She really loves Star Wars.

  10. I just found this post, but OMG, these pillows are simply amazing. Love how simple yet stylish they are. My kids would love them!
