THOR: RAGNAROK is in theaters November 3rd but we got a sneak peek at the red carpet premiere last week. The official embargo has been lifted so we can talk about what we saw but don’t worry. No spoilers here! I am NOT an official movie reviewer but I AM a professional movie goer. I am not a Marvel superfan who knows all the facts and minute details of the Marvel Universe, but I have loved most of the films I’ve seen and enjoy watching them with my boys. I’ll call myself a “Basic” Marvel fan who’s seen all the movies and can follow along well enough to understand the storyline. That, and I have two teenaged boys who fill me in on all the rest.
I’ll be honest and say that the Thor movies haven’t been my favorite, but this one changed that for me.
During our interviews it was brought up a couple of times that this film allowed Chris Hemsworth to explore his character a bit more and I think he did just that. Plus, we get to see a side of the Hulk we’ve never seen before (come back and read this again after you’ve seen the movie).
The movie is FUN, funny, full of color & set to music that couldn’t have been more perfect. All the things I love about some of my favorite Marvel films. The characters are interesting and there are some surprising plot twists. It’s overall everything I love in a movie that I’m paying to go see in the theaters.
For Parents
If you’re wondering if you should take your kids to see this, take a look at the last couple movies and I’d say Guardians of the Galaxy 2. If you were ok with them seeing those, you should be ok with this one. There are some adult jokes (that my boys are now old enough to “get”) and the obvious violence.
Homework
I know, homework as part of a review? If you’re like me and like the Marvel movies but aren’t good at remembering all the details, do some homework before November 3rd and catch up on your Marvel knowledge. It will make the movie that much better for you. Plus, who doesn’t like having movie homework?!
THOR
THE AVENGERS
THOR: THE DARK WORLD
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON
Go grab your tickets now and then come back and let me know what you thought of the movie! I’ll check back in and let you know what the boys thought after November 3!
