Strange Magic is out in theaters and we went to see it Thursday night!
“Strange Magic,” a new animated film from Lucasfilm Ltd., is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects. Directed by Gary Rydstrom (“Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation,” “Lifted”) from a story by George Lucas, “Strange Magic” will be released by Touchstone Pictures on Jan. 23, 2015.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going to see the movie but I was definitely entertained. As a mom of boys I was a bit worried as the first part of the movie was all lovey dovey but it kept our attention and definitely entertained us. We all really liked the music! And the animation? Incredible!
The Disney Blog posted a great review that somewhat sums up my feelings. All of us were definitely entertained and really, that’s what we want in a film right?! We love seeing anything by George Lucas and were definitely intrigued by this type of film by him. There are some great messages for the tween/teen aged group. The Bog King (pictured above) is a bit intense in some scenes (think Hopper in Bugs Life) so if you have sensitive kiddos just know that ahead of time.
My friend Sara from Mom Endeavors got to tour Skywalker Ranch and watch the film with George Lucas! She has some fun info on her blog as well.
I always love keeping the movie fun going with printables so here are some from Disney I thought you might like! Click the link below the images to download.
