Continuing on with this year’s last minute gift guide, today I have tech & engineering gift inspiration for you. I tried to find a good mix of ages and we have a wide range of prices for this guide as well because some of the higher end gifts were just too good not to include depending on your budget.
When pulling together this guide, the boys helped me remember what toys we’ve seen, tried and/or heard only amazing things about this year. Toys and ideas that kids who are obsessed with or show interest in coding, technology, engineering, building etc.
- Sphero Mini – we LOVE the new Sphero mini! It’s sphero but smaller and more portable. Grab other colors for siblings or friends. You can play games, code and even drive Sphero mini with your facial expressions (which is fun to watch). Check out the other colors too!
- Star Wars Droid Inventor Kit – if you haven’t seen this yet, check out our post on it here.
- Cubetto Coding Playset – A coding toy for ages 3 and up. Children help a wooden robot navigate a magical world by writing programs using hands-on coding blocks.
- Amazon STEM toy subscription – did you know Amazon has subscription boxes?! They have a STEM toy subscription box with different age groups 3-4, 5-7, and 8-13
- DIY mini racing drone – for kids that might want a drone, this takes the fun a little further by having them build their own
- Cubelets robot blocks – this is a set, but you can buy them individually. These are perfect for the LEGO lover that really doesn’t need more bricks. Robot blocks that include Drive, Flashlight, Distance, Brightness, Passive and Battery robot blocks.
- Design & Drill Activity Center – for the little one who wants to make things. This set allows them to drill with their own power drill and create patterns that come in the box or make them on their own.
- BB-8 Sphero – all of the Star Wars Sphero droids are selling fast this year. They have BB-9E and R2-D2 as well! Check their site for stock as well.
- Elenco Practical Soldering Kit – perfect for the kid who would love to learn to solder. Don’t forget to get a soldering iron as well.
- City Engineering and Design Building Set – How great does this building set look? They have so many great sets so be sure to check them out if the city isn’t quite your style. Like the skate park.
- Snap Circuits Jr. – this is always a favorite and consistently gets great reviews. It comes with instructions for over 100 projects!
- Piper Computer Kit – this kit has won tons of awards this year, and for good reason. Kids can build their very own working computer and play Minecraft! Show them what’s inside of those boxes they spend 1/2 the day on.
- fur-Real Makers Proto Max – create and code the ultimate pet.
Stay tuned for more gift guides and ideas all early this week. I have gift ideas for stocking stuffers, kids that love travel, being outdoors and non-fiction!
