There is one think I’ve always had trouble modeling for my kids – taking good care of myself. I, like most parents, spend most of my time taking care of my family (and working) and never enough time taking care of myself. One of the things we really wanted to work on this year is taking small steps toward making our neighborhood (and home) a brighter place. I’m not talking about huge total turnarounds from our normal lives, because that’s not always feasible, but little things to make my family and my neighbors smile a little more or feel a little bit better about themselves.

Bold digital art project for kids

One thing I haven’t spent a lot of time on with the boys is art! I sometimes forget that there are more ways than just drawing or painting to express art. Both my boys love creating digitally so we had a fun afternoon talking about where inspiration for art comes from and learning how to create some easy digital art that they can create on their own.

When I read a book a movie plays in my head. Characters and scenes are brought to life through my imagination. Sometimes people and companies take that book and create a visual re-telling of it. Sometimes that re-telling is crazy similar to the scenes brought to life in my head and sometimes it’s different. Either way I LOVE it!
