My boys LOVE introducing new tech to their family. Once we got our hands on a Gear VR headset and the Intel True VR app on our Samsung Galaxy S8, they couldn’t stop talking about who they were going to show what on the app. Intel True VR is a live streaming VR application that streams action live like MLB baseball action every Tuesday this season!
The boys HAD to show dad because the possibilities with this technology combined with sports is just too cool. To use, you place your phone into the headset, download the Intel True VR app from the Oculus store, place the headset on, select the app and then choose what you want to experience.
We had friends over who love baseball so we all checked out the MLB VOD so we knew how it worked before the lifestream on Tuesday.
What makes experiencing a game SO cool with Intel True VR technology is that it gives fans an amazing VR viewing experience by letting them pick the vantage points so you feel like you are there. You get to watch what you want, when you want like if you were at the game in person. They also offer real time stats and ways to gain deeper insight into the game.
The technology stole the show and everyone wanted a turn! The Intel True VR experiences are captured by both Intel True VR camera pods, 3rd party cameras, and are produced by Intel VR production specialists which all work together for a truly awesome experience. Intel True VR camera pods generate up to 1TB of data per hour, and use fiber optic cables and high compute servers to stream VR content in real-time so you’re getting some powerful processing!
We found it very intuitive and easy to navigate. My favorite part was choosing WHERE you wanted to watch the action from. You can also choose many different types of content like NCAA, NFL, Fashion Week… Since the boys started with MLB, I made them a little snack to munch on while they were all hanging out.
Pretzels + white queso + hot sauce = an easy, crowd pleasing snack that was perfect for their tech bonding session.
To make just heat up some pretzels, add queso to a round bowl and top with a bit of hot sauce in the shape of baseball stitching. You can add the hot sauce to a plastic storage bag and snip the corner for easy piping.
After getting Dad into it, the boys took the headset with them when we visited family and had a blast showing them the Intel True VR technology through the app. Do your teens love showing off tech to family too?!
If you want to check it out, grab your Gear VR headset, download the Intel TrueVR App and tune into MLB lifestream Game of the Week (every Tuesday) as well as MLB VOD! Then let me know what you think!
