Happy Earth Day! We thought it only appropriate to share a recycled craft today. My boys are always losing/leaving/misplacing their bags so I thought if I had them make their own they’d either not want to lose it because they made it themselves, or find it easy and want to make more when they can’t find these.
You’ll need a shirt that won’t be worn anymore (these had stains on them).
Cut off the arms.
Using a bowl as a guide cut off the collar as well.
Turn the shirt inside out.
and sew the bottom closed. We just used a simple, straight stitch and did it twice for some extra strength.
You can end there or make a diagonal stitch on the sides like this to help open up the bottom of the bag just a bit and reinforce the corners.
This was the boys’ first time sewing so they aren’t straight, it took a while and it’s no where near perfect but for this project it doesn’t matter one bit!
Turn right side out and fill!
Here’s what the corners look like.
Easy, light, recycled and reusable! What more could you want from an Earth Day project?!
