The Boys’ New Favorite Channel

Being completely honest I try hard to keep the boys busy and entertained with fun interactive activities that we can all do together – but there are times when I don’t have the energy, time, or ideas to keep them interested. Especially at doctor’s offices, why are they so hard to entertain there? I can only read the same 5 books so many times!

We often look on YouTube for funny videos and LEGO® videos have long been one of our favorites. Not only are the characters fun and recognizable (“Hey! I have him!”) but we love watching the stop motion videos made by fans. I think that may be our next activity to learn together!

Back to the Dr. Office – my phone/iPad is a great source for keeping busy, especially at the LONG allergist appointments. We’ll play word games, read a bit, and do whatever we can to entertain ourselves but when we are just done with it all we’ll pull out the phone and search YouTube for videos. I was really excited when I was contacted for this opportunity because it re-introduced me to the new LEGO® YouTube channel! I love that they pulled offical content and fan content all together onto one page that made it easy to search and find what you’re looking for.

We love this episode of LEGO® Club TV where they drop fully built LEGO® creations off a ledge. Why it’s so entertaining I don’t know but I’ve seen it several times. They have several of these types of shows on their channel. My oldest really likes those! The animated shows from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and now Monsters are among their favorites too.

If you’re like me and haven’t discovered all the features of YouTube yet (I usually just ok what they are watching and rarely dive into it much myself beyond a search) here’s some great info on how to create your own LEGO® channel!

500+ Videos?! That’s crazy! Since we are new to our own playlists I had the boys help me come up with a few of their favorites for our very first LEGO® YouTube playlist. HERE is our playlist if you are interested! I’m sure we’ll be adding more since they add new videos everyday.

I love that a playlist allows them to watch several videos that I’ve already approved of. The one we made is about 30 minutes long so it’s a great way to monitor screen time as well! A little mom break never hurts either. 😉 The best part is that your playlist can be accessed anywhere so I can the kids can even watch them while grocery shopping (can you tell that I love to grocery shop).

The cool part is that it’s all free too! Free content that they love and a full playlist that’s approved by me is pretty awesome in my book. Are your kids pretty good on the computer/phone/tablet like mine? What do you think of the LEGO® channel?!

Thank you to LEGO and Technorati for being sponsors. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. All opinions expressed here are my own.
