I mentioned last week that we were taking the boys to see The Phantom of the Opera at ASU Gammage here in Tempe, AZ. I have seen it before (though it’s been a while) and knew that it should hold the boys’ interest but wasn’t sure how they’d like it.

The Phantom of the Opera - ASU Gammage Tempe, AZI watched them throughout the show and while they couldn’t 100% follow along they were paying attention. They LOVED the special effects and could definitely feel the different emotions in the music. When it was over and we asked them what they thought they both enthusiastically said they really liked it, which actually was a surprise to me. I knew they were watching but didn’t realize how much they were enjoying it!

The Phantom of the Opera - ASU Gammage Tempe, AZThey have really grown to love the theater now that we’ve gone a few times. I still have to remind my youngest (10) to sit still here and there so he’s not distracting people next to him or behind him but they generally do very well. I feel like this was a great transition for them from entertainment geared specifically towards families and somewhat of a younger audience to that targeted towards an older audience.

When I asked them what their favorite part was they both replied in unison “When the chandelier fell”!

The Phantom of the Opera - ASU Gammage Tempe, AZI have to say that I love living where we have the opportunity to introduce the boys to different types of art, music and culture even if it is small steps at a time 😉

There are still a few tickets here and there for The Phantom of the Opera here in the Phoenix area through June 7th, 2015!
