Happy MAR10 day! Yes, March 10th is Mario Day a day to celebrate Mario and his awesome fans. We decided to make up some origami mushrooms as our art project for the day. They are super easy and with just a few additions, turn into perfect little super mushroom or Goomba.

I keep a pack of origami paper on hand but regular paper works too, just make sure it’s thin because you’ll need 2 sheets to make these. We followed these instructions using red and white or brown and white paper. Once we made a couple we could make them without even referring to the instructions!

Once they’re made we folded in the sides to round out all the corners and then added bits of paper for the power up mushroom and drew on some features to make the Goomba!Easy Mario Mushroom origami craft Easy Mario Mushroom origami craft

If you want them to stand up like ours, just tape an unfolded paper clip to the back and adjust as needed until they’re stable.Easy Mario Mushroom origami craft

If Perler beads are your thing – make a Mario figure to go along with them!Stand up Perler bead characters. This one uses Mario but make any of your favorite characters stand!

If you visit Facebook today, you will be able to use a free Mario-themed frame on your Facebook profile photo from March 10 until March 12 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The frame will add iconic items from the Super Mario Bros. universe to any photo or image, and is also available inside the Messenger Camera (so fun).

Nintendo is also working with Starlight Children’s Foundation, and will be providing new designs for the foundation’s Starlight Brave Gowns, which help sick kids feel like superstars with comfortable and brightly colored gowns featuring characters from the Mushroom Kingdom. Additionally, Nintendo will provide a donation to Starlight Children’s Foundation to create 2,000 gowns for this program.

I love that they are using one of our favorites for such a great cause!Easy Mario Mushroom origami craft Easy Mario Mushroom origami craft
